ABOUT ME

I remember begging my mother to let me splatter primary colours on my walls in my room, I just knew it was going to be the best looking room ever. She didn't go for it. I believe that that might have been the beginning of my desire to design. It became a undercurrent in everything I did. In my young naieve mind, I though interior designers went to school to learn how to sew curtains, and that did not appeal, (who told me that?) so I ended up studying Visual Arts and recieved a degree of Fine Arts from York University, which definitely gave me an excellent base in colour theory, design layout, abstract concepts and the freedom to get messy and try new things. Studying everything from the masters to the modern allows me to understand how art and design live hand in hand.

My favourite quote is "I love when you walk in a room and don't feel the rules" Jacques Grange. Trying to stick to rules that apply to one design style might not work for you. Don't be caught in the lie that you need to buy your furniture as a set, or that you can't mix metals, or white is boring and cold.  You need a space that reflects you, and your own personal style. I love to create spaces that reflect your life. You need to feel comfortable and welcomed into your own space. Whether that means ultra modern in crisp clean whites, or a more traditional space with nods to family history in the form of a few well loved pieces of furniture, there is a design for you. And together we can find out what it is and create it.

In my own home, I'm constantly changing out pieces, re-doing a gallery wall, or repainting a room. With three growing kids there's always an opportunity to re-do a kids room and update a piece of furniture.

Our life is all about family, our kids, our marriage and most importantly about our relationship with Jesus. I also have a cake business which keeps me busy all year around. Design is a love and passion I'm excited to pursue on a whole new level and I look forward to taking this journey with you.

Hope you'll stop by often!

Christina
